ADAMS MANUFACTURING DEBUTS WORLD’S FIRST STACKING RESIN ROCKING CHAIR
Made in USA rocking chair delivers the look, strength and functionality of more expensive traditional rockers at a fraction of the cost

Portersville, PA (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — Adams Manufacturing debuted its new “Made in USA” stacking resin rocking chair at the 2014 National Hardware Show® – one of the largest home improvement gatherings in the world. The exhibition was held May 6-8, 2014, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Adams’ marketing theme at the show was “Come Meet Our New Rock Star!” In response to their campaign, Adams won the “All-American Award for Best On-Site Marketing,” which was presented by John Ratzenberger (Cliff Clavin) of “Cheers” fame.Adams’ stacking resin rocker represents a significant design and engineering milestone. Advanced computer design and data modeling has evolved to the point where structural dynamics and material properties can be successfully analyzed to verify structural performance.

Using Finite Element Analysis (FEA), a rigorous computer-based methodology that analyzes the behavior of engineering structures, Adams was able to model and simulate the various structural strains, stresses and loads that are inherent in any rocking chair design. This resulted in optimal product geometries, proportions and features that have been incorporated into the final design.

“Much like our industry-leading RealComfort Adirondack®, rocking chairs hold a special place in the hearts and minds of consumers,” noted Adams Manufacturing President & CEO, Tom Lombardo. “Found on porches throughout North America and deeply ingrained in the American psyche, rocking chairs continue to be an extremely popular form of casual seating. Many of today’s current rocking chair designs are either too expensive, too bulky, require assembly, or they can’t stack. Technological design advances have allowed us to create a stackable resin rocking chair that delivers the look, strength and functionality of more expensive traditional wooden or polyethylene rockers, but at a fraction of the cost,” said Lombardo.

Adams’ stacking resin rocking chair does not require assembly and will be manufactured to the highest quality standards using UV-stabilized materials to ensure extreme weather-resistance and product longevity. Because they are stackable and take up minimal floor space, retailers will be able to take advantage of mass-market merchandising and product sell-through opportunities that were previously unattainable.

Founded in 1976, Adams Manufacturing has consistently grown thanks to a strong commitment to innovation — and to the idea of designing products that enrich consumers’ lives. Adams has been issued 208 design or utility patents since its founding. Adams’ innovative products are sold throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe in prominent global retailers such as Lowe’s, Wal-Mart, The Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Do It Best and on Amazon.com, just to name a few.
