VIP PACKAGE AND NEW MENU BUILD EXCITEMENT FOR PENN BREWERY’S
2014 OKTOBERFEST EVENT SEPTEMBER 19-21 AND 26-28

(PittsburghNewsWire.com) Pittsburgh, PA – Penn Brewery is introducing some crowd-pleasing changes to its annual Oktoberfest celebration, slated this year for the weekends of September 19-21 and 26-28.
“We’re always working to make our Oktoberfest bigger and better,” said Sandy Cindrich, Penn’s President and CEO. “We had record attendance of over 10,000 people last year, but we think we can beat that this year.”
Cindrich said that for the first time, Penn will be offering a special VIP package for guests looking for a premium Oktoberfest experience.  Priced at $30 per guest, the VIP package includes:

  • Access to a tented, reserved seating area
  • One meal including sandwich, side, and non-alcoholic beverage ($9 value)
  • VIP-only lines for beer in the Biergarten and upper tent
  • 22-oz. plastic Oktoberfest souvenir mug ($3 value) and one fill ($4.75 value)
  • Private indoor restrooms

The VIP package is valid for a single Friday or Saturday evening during Oktoberfest, and 50 packages will be made available for each Friday and Saturday evening.  Tickets are available for sale on Showclix on a first-come, first-served basis.

In addition to the VIP package, the Brewery is also rolling out a new Fest menu including German dishes and vegetarian options:

Wurst Platter
Brat Baguette
Kielbasa Baguette
Smoked Turkey Leg
Glazed Tofu Skewer
Corn on a Stick
Hot German Potato Salad
Pasta Salad
Sauerkraut
Soft Pretzels
Hot Apple Cobbler

The event’s main attraction, though, will be several varieties of Penn beer on draft.  This year’s selections include the classic German styles Penn Oktoberfest, Pilsner, Gold, Dark, Kaiser Pils, and Cool River Kölsch.

Live entertainment (full schedule attached) includes performances from

  • The Autobahn Band, specializing in German/Bavarian music;
  • Heimat Klang, a veteran of many Penn Brewery Oktoberfests;
  • Kevin Solecki, a Grammy-nominated strolling accordionist;
  • Mädel Jäger, a trio billing themselves as “Your Bros-in-Hosen.”

Penn’s Oktoberfest celebration will run from 5:00 pm to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays (over 21 only after 8:00 pm), and 4:00 to 10:00 pm on Sundays.  Oktoberfest events are cash only, except meals in the main dining room. There is no cover charge. No reservations will be taken for Fest days, and Penn Brewery will be closed on the Mondays following Oktoberfest weekends, September 22 and 29.  Penn will be open for lunch as usual from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays during Fest. (We will offer only our limited Fest menu in the restaurant during Oktoberfest). For those planning their own Oktoberfest celebration this year, Penn is also accepting orders for pickup.

Penn has reserved the parking lots at Schiller Academy and North Catholic High School for Oktoberfest parking. In addition, the lot at the end of the 16th Street Bridge near Heinz Lofts will be available from 5:00 pm through midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. The Sara Heinz House lots will be available for parking from 4:00 pm-midnight on September 20, 26, and 27, and from 9pm-midnight only on Friday, September 19.

Additional Oktoberfest details are listed on Penn’s website, http://www.pennbrew.com.
