LOCAL RECORDING STUDIO RELOCATES TO CARNEGIE

CARNEGIE, PA (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — Soundcolor Productions, once based in Mt. Lebanon, has opened its newest studio at 303 East Main Street in Carnegie. Jay Weaver, a professional musician and sound engineer, has owned and operated the studio since 2004. Carnegie is a growing business community in Pittsburgh’s South Hills. The studio offers audio recording, mixing, and mastering services, as well as group and private instruction.  With over 25 years of experience and a Masters in Music Degree from Duquesne University, Mr. Weaver is an established composer, arranger, and producer. He has worked with multiple bands, singers, songwriters, and media companies, including film and television.

Soundcolor studios has recorded local legends such as Maureen Budway and Pete Hewlett, and national recording artists such as Andrew Arrington (The Lion King) and Dawn Younker (Les Miserables).  He has recorded and produced live sound for The Pittsburgh Philharmonic, Aeolian Winds, for local venues such as the Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild, and created the sound design for Stage 62 Productions at the Carnegie Library Theater.  He has worked with Jazz greats Will Kennedy, Bob Mintzer, Russell Ferrante, and actress/vocalist Gloria Rubens.  As a musician, he has performed with Pittsburgh talent, such as Joe Negri, Mark Milovats, The Olga Watkins Band, as well as the Pittsburgh Musical Theatre.

“One of the best things we offer to our singer-songwriter clients is the ability to arrange and record full band arrangements of their compositions”, says Weaver.  “We can take the songs you have in your head and make them a reality. Once songs are recorded, they can be a lucrative commodity as well as an effective marketing tool to share your music with the world.”

Another unique service that Soundcolor provides is the recording of audition materials for high school-aged musicians. Local business owner Nancy Geer, asked Jay Weaver to prepare her son, Spencer, for his audition into Duquesne University’s School of Music.  She was very pleased with the results. “Jay took extra time to work on the audition process with Spencer.  Spencer auditioned in October and breezed through the process and was told at the  time that they wanted to offer him a jazz guitar scholarship. Jay gave Spencer a wonderful foundation on which to build. He graduated from Duquesne in 2014 and is supporting himself as a musician.”

To meet the needs of the ever expanding project studio owners,  Soundcolor offers seminars on  topics such as “Acoustics for Recording Studios and Home Theaters”, “Mixing Your Tracks”, “ Music Business”, Songwriting Tips and Tricks’, and many more.
