PA DISTANCE LEARNING GRANTED 5-YEAR CHARTER RENEWAL

WEXFORD, PA (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — PA Distance Learning Charter School is pleased to announce they have been granted a full five-year charter renewal, which is the maximum renewal term a school can be granted in the state of Pennsylvania.

“The charter renewal gives us the stability we need to focus on the future and invest in the development of our school,” said Dr. Ed Mandell, Principal of PA Distance Learning, “while also advancing our high quality and cutting edge use of technology to ensure our students are prepared for their college and or career choices in the 21st century.”

PA Distance Learning first opened in 2004 and today serves the families of over 540 students from Kindergarten through 12th grade, spanning the entire Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

“My son Joshua has been enrolled since second grade. He is now a thriving 7th grader,” said Brandi Shaw, a PA Distance Learning parent.  “Every year they strive to be even better than the previous. We look forward for the next several years of learning from PA Distance Learning Charter School.”

For over 10 years, highly qualified teachers have served PA Distance Learning families across Pennsylvania with a teacher-driven curriculum that meets the needs of all learners.  This past year they introduced their families to Cloudcast Education, a Google Enterprise. The partnership with Cloudcast Education has allowed the staff at PA Distance Learning to build positive relationships with families and students.  The Google Apps for Education platform has allowed the enhancement of instruction and curriculum, giving teachers the opportunity to actively connect and engage with students.

“Our charter is the final piece in our program to develop a student-focused program where we can make teachers as efficient and effective as possible in assisting the learning of each student as an individual,” said Mr. John Marous, President of the PA Distance Learning School Board. “Combined with the state-of-the-art learning system being implemented in cooperation with Google/Cloudcast, PA Distance Learning’s new 5-year charter assures the continual development of technology-assisted but teacher-focused education throughout the state.”

Headquartered in Wexford, PA, the cyber-charter school operates under the mission to offer a valuable education alternative, practice and promote academic integrity, present quality curriculum, technology, and support, and to foster academic excellence in their students.

“I have always believed in our mission and what we have provided for our families as a school, and it is encouraging to see that the Department of Education also has confidence in the services that we offer our students,” stated Mr. Nick Kocuba, a teacher at PA Distance Learning since the school opened in 2004.
