(PittsburghNewsWire.com) — The 10:08 Club will be presenting their first annual “Hometown Throw-down for Mental Illness Awareness” concert on Sunday February 21st, at Jergel’s. The event will feature Pittsburgh’s talented local country artists as well as a few special guests. Proceeds from the event benefit NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness).

The 10.08 Club’s mission is to help raise awareness and funds for nonprofit organizations that have as one of their goals to eradicate the stigma associated with mental illness. In order to achieve this goal, The 10:08 Club creates events that feature live music and provide a forum to share information about mental illness in a lively, relaxed atmosphere. Previously, The 10:08 Club has worked with organization’s such as, Mental Health America Allegheny County, Bring Change 2 Mind, and The Center for victims.

NAMI is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.NAMI is an association of hundreds of local affiliates, state organizations and volunteers who work in your community to raise awareness and provide support and education that was not previously available to those in need.  NAMI strives to educate, advocate, listen, and lead people through struggles with mental illness. Performers at the “Hometown Throw-down for Mental Illness Awareness” include: Chris Higbee, Frank Vieira, Michael Christopher, Dawn Savage, Whiskey Creek, Power of Two, and Justin Kalcevic.
