PRODUCERS, AND FILMMAKERS TO PITTSBURGH IN MAY
3 Rivers Screenwriters Conference runs May 20-22 at Convention Center


PITTSBURGH, PA
(PittsburghNewsWire.com) —  Writers, producers and filmmakers of hit movies, and television and web series such as X-Men: First Class, Bridge to Terabithia, Epic Rap Battles of History, Black Sails, Machete, Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Thor will congregate in Pittsburgh next month for the inaugural 3 Rivers Screenwriters Conference.

This intimate, three-day educational conference will run May 20-22 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Aspiring writers and filmmakers, as well as television and movie buffs, will participate in seminars and discussions with top film and TV writers, directors, producers and award-winning educators.

Attendees will learn aspects of story development, filmmaking and writing for both screen and stage. Panelists will share their stories and experiences on topics that include: “The Art of Pitching,” “Writing Horror,” “Directing and Producing Your Own Script,” “Adapting Novels and Plays for the Screen,” and “Indie Filmmaking on a Shoestring Budget.”

  • Jay Wade Edwards, editor (Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Space Ghost Coast to Coast)
  • Laura Harkcom, Emmy-nominated SyFy Channel Producer, writer and former studio executive at Warner Bros. and Universal Studios (The Lost Room, Parallels)
  • Christopher Lockhart, Story Editor at WME Entertainment  (past & current clients include Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Rachel McAdams & Denzel Washington)
  • Ashley Edward Miller, screenwriter & producer (Black Sails, X-Men: First Class, Thor, Fringe, Top Gun 2 and Power Rangers)

Other events planned around the conference include special screenings or Q&A sessions with conference speakers at area movie theaters and A Cinematic Soirée, Saturday evening, May 21 at the Peirce Studio in the Trust Arts Education Center. A pitch competition will give selected attendees a chance to present script ideas to industry experts.
