GOSPEL MUSIC IN A BAR?
Wallace’s TapRoom to feature award winning musicians

PITTSBURGH, PA (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — When you think of music performed in a bar you usually think of jazz, blues or pop music but very rarely do you think of gospel music. That’s going to all change on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Wallace’s Taproom at Hotel Indigo East Liberty. Award winning musicians, Zanetta Wingfield and Dr. Alton Merrell, will be performing “Gospel Music Celebration” as part of the very popular “Live Music Series” at Wallace’s TapRoom.Zanetta sang her first solo at the age of five in front of a packed church to honor a local Gospel legend. After learning the verses through loving encouragement on the car ride over from her Dad, Rev. Melvin Wilson, she just got up and did it, and she’s been singing ever since! Singing and sharing music with others gives her the utmost joy and she loves to encourage and uplift others through her gift. Zanetta has sung in two international gospel groups that toured thorough Europe and for over 30 years and served as the lead vocalist of the Stellar nominated female Gospel group, Ministree! Zanetta has recently embarked upon a solo career with the release of her first single, “Get Up”.

Dr. Alton L. Merrell is a minister of worship, pianist, composer, and educator. Alton serves as the Director of Worship Ministries at Allegheny Center Alliance Church in Pittsburgh, PA. From Youngstown State University, Alton earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and Classical Piano Performance graduating Cum Laude, and a Master of Music in Jazz Piano performance. From the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Merrell received his Ph.D. in Jazz Studies with a research focus on jazz piano performance and pedagogy.
