WITH SKI RESORT & VENDOR SHOWCASE
PITTSBURGH, PA (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — Celebrating 80 years of fun on & off the slopes, the Pittsburgh Ski Club will kick off their 80th Anniversary Celebration with a spectacular Ski Resort & Vendor Showcase at 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel –Pittsburgh West Greentree (401 Holiday Dr, Pittsburgh).
The club’s monthly social event will showcase various area ski resorts from Pennsylvania, West Virginia & New York as well as many local ski shops. The ski shops will be displaying all the latest in ski equipment along with fashionable ski apparel for both men and women. The Club will provide light snacks during the evening and a cash bar will be available. This event is open to all Club members and their guests as well as the general public.
The ski resort/vendor showcase is just the start of many activities to celebrate the club being 80 years young! Our annual Christmas dinner/dance at the Embassy Suites, Moon Township on December 15th (also open to non-members) will have an 80th anniversary focus and we’ll round out the celebrations with a festive picnic on May 12th at the Evergreen Community Park, honoring all past presidents of the club.
The Pittsburgh Ski Club was founded on the evening of December 10, 1937, by three avid skiers Bill Albert, Al Black, and Lars Eckwurtzel as a non-profit organization to encourage skiing through instruction, ski trips, and racing programs. The club is the second oldest ski club in Pennsylvania, and has a current membership of over 400 active adult and children. Some of our members are from out of state and join the club just to go on one of our four week-long ski trips offered each year (3 domestic & 1 international).
Today, the PSC not only offers great ski trips each ski season as well as monthly socials from October through March, but also offers year-round activities on and off the slopes for its members and guests. The club’s emphasis is not only on skiing/snowboarding but on a variety of sporting activities (biking, golfing, volleyball) as well as non-ski travel trips, monthly happy hours, and many other fun & interesting social events.
