AWARD WINNING AUTHOR, DR. SHEILA K. COLLINS, PhD TO PRESENT
“THE ART OF GRIEVING” AT RODEF SHALOM CONGREGATION

PITTSBURGH, PA (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — On Thursday, November 9 at 7pm, Rodef Shalom Congregation (4905 5th Avenue Pittsburgh, PA 15213) will welcome award winning author, keynote speaker, and grief & bereavement expert Dr. Sheila K. Collins, PhD to present The Art of Grieving: Exploring One of Life’s Inevitable Experiences.

During this interactive, heartwarming and surprisingly entertaining presentation, attendees will learn about Sheila’s poignant life story supporting her two adult children through their journey of illness, treatment and death. Attendees will be inspired by Sheila’s progressive, artistic approach to coping with grief as she shares both intimate and large-scale perspectives on love, loss and healing. Attendees will walk away with tools to help cope with their own life’s losses and will gain a perspective about the grieving process that they may not have had before.

“I’m hoping to change the conversation about love and loss,” says Sheila. “It seems people today think it’s taboo to talk about issues surrounding death, but I want to help people feel comfortable with the topic remembering that it comes from a place of love. My goal for those who attend this presentation is for them to walk away with a deeper appreciation for the wisdom in their own life’s stories.”

Rabbi Sharyn Henry, religious leader at Rodef Shalom Congregation adds, “Sheila’s creative approach complements the wisdom of our Jewish traditions surrounding grief and loss. We are grateful to her for her willingness to share with us her wisdom and experiences around healing.”

Regardless of your religious background, Sheila’s story is an important one to hear. We all cope with tragedy whether personal or through events happening around our country and the world. This is one presentation you won’t want to miss.

To purchase tickets ($15 for general public, $10 for Rodef Shalom members) visit www.RodefShalom.org/Collins. Light refreshments will be served. The first 20 people to RSVP will receive a signed copy of Sheila’s memoir, Warrior Mother: Fierce Love, Unbearable Loss and the Rituals That Heal. Books (printed and audio) will also be available for purchase the evening of the event.
