WOMEN WHO ROCK™ PRESENTS A WOMEN FOCUSED MUSIC BUSINESS WORKSHOP ON MARCH 3, 2018 AT ALLOY 26 PITTSBURGH
PITTSBURGH, PA (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — Women Who Rock, an organization focused on empowering and educating Women in Music, will present its first all ages Music Business workshop in Pittsburgh. The Music Business 101 workshop will take place on Saturday, March 3, 2018 from 12pm-3pm at Alloy 26 located inside Nova Place on Pittsburgh’s North Shore.
This educational workshop is designed for both performers and women interested in a career in the music business, and will focus on current topics including building a fanbase through social media, music business fundamentals, the role of record labels in the digital age, developing your electronic press kit, artist branding, music streaming & royalties, and how to sell music on leading digital sites like iTunes. There will be networking sessions during the workshop, providing opportunities for Women in Music to connect and network with each other.
Hosted by Melinda Colaizzi, who is the Founder of Women Who Rock and brings over 15 years of experience working in the music industry both as a performer and music business professional, working with companies including Live Nation, Universal Records, ShowClix and PKA Management/Aerosmith, and is currently an adjunct professor at Point Park University.
“We’re excited to host our first women focused Music Business Workshop on March 3rd. There is a need for women in music to have opportunities and knowledge to further their career and better understand the business side of the music industry. This workshop will also be a great way for women in our community to network with other women in the music industry. We will be presenting more educational, networking and performance based opportunities throughout the year.” -Melinda Colaizzi, Founder/CEO Women Who Rock
Women Who Rock also hosts an annual benefit concert during women’s health month in May, featuring Pittsburgh’s best female musicians, with proceeds benefiting women’s and infants’ health research at Magee-Womens Research Institute.
