Renown ‘Melting Pot’ Orchestra of Cleveland Coming to Pittsburgh July 26, 2008 As Part of the Afro-American Music Institute’s “COME SUNDAY” Programs
Pittsburgh, PA – (PittsburghNewsWire.com) – A.A.M.I. is hosting the “Melting Pot” Orchestra on Saturday, July 26, 2008-7:30 P.M. at the Kelly Strayhorn Theatre as part of its ‘Come Sunday’ Program Series funded by the A.K. Mellon Fund.
“Melting Pot” Orchestra’s twenty plus members’ music can best be described as “inspirational music – a blend of African and Latin rhythms, various Jazz styles, Contemporary rhythmic sounds, Blues, R&B, and Big Band Sound.
The group is comprised of many degree, multicultural music performers and educators, who have performed with, conducted, and or directed many of the top names in entertainment, including Barry White and The Love Unlimited Orchestra, The Indianapolis Philharmonic Orchestra, Nancy Wilson, The O’Jays, The Temptations, Lou Rawls, Grover Washington, Jr., both Latin and Puerto Rican performer, J.R. Gonzalex, Celia Cruz, and Oscar DeLeon.
“Melting Pot” Orchestra utilizes more than a dozen music instruments during its music performance, which is uplifting, soothing, non-offensive, and is appreciated by youth through senior citizens from many diverse cultural backgrounds.
