GETTING ENGAGED? WHY WAITING UNTIL DECEMBER IS THE
WORST TIME TO BUY AN ENGAGEMENT RING
PITTSBURGH, PA (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — Local jeweler and entrepreneur, Jenny Butterfield, cautions price-sensitive couples who are thinking about getting engaged this holiday season to invest in their rings before December.
“40% of couples dating in the United States get engaged between Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day. And unfortunately, most wait until December to purchase their rings,” Butterfield explains.
“However, December is actually the worst time to buy a ring. There are two reasons for this. First, due to high demand, the cost of gold goes up during this time of year. Second, jewelry shops are so busy in December that they start charging clients rush fees on jewelry that isn’t ordered three to six weeks in advance.”
Butterfield goes on to say, “Couples getting engaged can save as much as $500 if they plan ahead and get their engagement rings in October or November instead of in December.”
“I get frustrated on behalf of these couples because as a jeweler my job is to help couples find beautiful rings that fit their budgets,” Butterfield admits. “Waiting until December is one of the biggest mistakes that costs couples money. Money that could either be saved or put toward a higher quality ring.”
Jenny Butterfield is the President and Master Jeweler at Jenny Butterfield Designs, a local, Pittsburgh company that specializes in custom jewelry design and working one-on-one with clients to make unique and dazzling engagement rings.
