“RUSSIAN HOLIDAY” CONCERT IN TARENTUM THIS SUNDAY

TARENTUM, PA (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — Dear Friends of Music, The Academy Chamber Ensemble, led by Director Dr. Warren Davidson, will present “Russian Holiday” in the Concert Series at Central Presbyterian Church, 305 Allegheny Street, Tarentum on Sunday, December 8, at 4:00 PM.

The program will feature one of Joseph Haydn’s “Russian” string Quartets, the Tchaikovsky String Quartet #1, plus musical holiday treats!

This group of fine musicians is Central’s Ensemble-in-Residence, and consists of leading players from the Pittsburgh area, many of whom are faculty members at colleges and universities. Ensemble members hold advanced degrees from some of the nation’s finest music programs, including the Eastman School of Music, the Cleveland Institute of Music, and the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University.

The Ensemble features Warren Davidson and Leah Givelber, Violins, David Sinclair, Viola, and Paige Riggs, Cello.

Academy Ensemble programs focus on the great classical chamber music tradition, but do sometimes include musical rarities and contemporary works.

This is our second program in our sixth season of concerts at Central Church. This series serves as a form of outreach to the local community, providing local residents the opportunity to enjoy quality fine arts programming in a beautiful setting. We believe that the arts play an important role in our culture and in our lives, and that the church is a place where they may be embraced, enabling us to more fully understand the personality and enjoy the presence of God.

A Goodwill Offering will be received, and refreshments will follow the program.
