BETHANY HOSPICE AND PALLIATIVE CARE PLEDGES $15 MINIMUM HOURLY PAY FOR ALL TEAM MEMBERS
PITTSBURGH, PA, (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — Bethany Hospice and Palliative Care announced today that it raised its minimum hourly wage to $15 across all departments. This change went into immediate effect for current team members. It will also be the minimum starting wage for future team members, including full-time, part-time, and casual positions.
“Hospice and palliative care serves families and communities best when delivered by a high caliber team,” said Bethany President & CEO Diane Mead. “Ensuring that every member of that team is well compensated reflects that belief. Our team continues to show unparalleled resilience and heart while caring for patients, families, and our partners throughout the pandemic. This is one way we are honoring their efforts and recognizing that care delivery will be different going forward.”
This announcement comes in conjunction with Bethany’s new Rising Stars Hospice Mentorship Program which aims to create a pipeline of highly qualified hospice and palliative care professionals. Offering full-time employment and six months of one-on-one mentorship with an experienced team member, Rising Stars are new graduates of nursing and social work programs and newly certified nursing assistants with a passion for hospice care. Successful program completion will count in lieu of years of experience for open positions.
“As a stellar hospice with a deficiency-free survey history with the Pennsylvania Department of Health and a twelve time awardee of local Best Places to Work lists, Bethany is perfectly positioned to help combat the mounting shortage of hospice and palliative professionals through meaningful hands-on learning,” said Crystal Macom, Executive Director.
Bethany team members continue to receive wide-ranging benefits, including:
– Comprehensive medical, including dental and vision
– 401K matching
– Paid time off and paid holidays
– No cost scrubs with weekly laundry
– Cell phone stipend
– Paid mileage
