THE 2021 CENTRE FILM FESTIVAL RECOGNIZES KEEGAN-MICHAEL KEY AND MADELINE ANDERSON
STATE COLLEGE, PA (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — The 3rd annual, rapidly burgeoning Centre Film Festival announces a hybrid, in-person and online one-week festival schedule from Nov. 1-7, 2021.
The inaugural Chandler Living Legacy Award will be presented to Emmy® and Peabody Award-winning actor, writer, and producer, Penn State alumni Keegan-Michael Key (Warner Bros. Wonka, “The Prom,” Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey).
The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Pennsylvania native pioneer filmmaker Madeline Anderson (“The Electric Company,” “Easy Reader,” A Tribute to Malcolm X).
More than 80 films will be shown at the festival in a hybrid schedule in-person and online, including Emmy-award winning, Belly of the Beast; Sundance Select feature, Driver X; SXSW favorite, Fully Realized Humans; Drunk Bus, starring Charlie Tahan; and many more.
More than a dozen renowned filmmakers and talent will be in attendance, including Patrick Fabian, Joshua Leonard, and Ian Tarbert. The festival will have surprise celebrity appearances and hybrid Q&A panels running throughout the festival week.
Elegance Bratton, director and 2020 virtual Centre Film Festival award-winner for Pier Kids, said, “So dope! Thank you for lifting filmmaking up.”
Centre Film Festival would like to thank its talented and distinguished judging panel, its multiple historic theatre locations, and its many sponsors, in particularly early sponsors the Penn State Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications, HappyValley.com, and the Bill Jaffe Leadership Initiative. The festival was co-founded in-person in 2019 by filmmaker and Global Fulbright Scholar, Pearl Gluck, and multi-media journalist, Curt Chandler.
The films shown in-person only will be playing at historic theaters across Central PA, including The Rowland Theatre in Phillipsburg, The Mishler Theatre in Altoona, and The State Theatre in State College.
A percentage of all proceeds will go to benefit cancer patient support and research. The festival also includes a food drive that coincides with an in-person screening.
The all-in festival pass is $50. Individual tickets can be purchased for $8. The Kids Flicks festival pass can be purchased for $10, which includes kids films for ages 3+ or 8+. As always, students with a valid student ID are free.
The awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, November 7th at 6:00pm at the historic Rowland Theatre in Phillipsburg, PA. The awards ceremony is free to everyone.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.centrefilm.org.
