Online Bidding Platform M@C Discount Grows Regional Presence With Three New Locations In 2021

PITTSBURGH, PA, Nov 17, 2021 (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — M@C Discount, a Pittsburgh-based online bidding platform that provides customers the opportunity to purchase merchandise at wholesale prices through daily online auctions, has executed a lease for its seventh Western Pennsylvania location at the Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills in Frazer Township.

The company has signed on to occupy the 165,000-square-foot former Sears Grand store, which closed in January 2016, expanding its regional reach to include facilities to the north, south, east and west of Pittsburgh. The Mills location marks the third expansion for M@C Discount this year, following a second location in Butler for 50,000 square feet at the Greater Butler Mart and their new flagship location at the former Macy’s department store in Washington Crown Center. In just three years, the company has grown from its humble beginnings to a recognizable brand in the region, now employing over 150 people.

Evan Cicirello and Darin Shriver of Cushman & Wakefield | Grant Street Associates, who represent M@C Discount in their expansion efforts, successfully negotiated the leases for the new Butler and Pittsburgh Mills locations, as well as the 147,608-square-foot lease of the former Macy’s department store which had been vacant since Macy’s closed its doors in 2017. The company currently maintains facilities in Beaver Falls, Butler, McKees Rocks and Washington and expects the Pittsburgh Mills and Washington Crown Center locations to open by year-end, and Butler Mart to be fully operational in Q1 2022.

“We are thrilled to represent a thriving and relevant business as they seek to further secure their foothold in the market. These former big box spaces present a unique opportunity for M@C Discount to revitalize retail centers and better service their customers in already strong markets,” says Evan Cicirello, Senior Vice President.
M@C founders Shawn Allen and Kellen Campbell leveraged their deep knowledge of logistics and online auctions to create a solution for major retailers such as Amazon, Kohl’s, Lowe’s and others to offload returned merchandise while simultaneously opening a portal for savvy Pittsburgh shoppers to pick up high-demand merchandise at a fraction of typical retail prices.

M@C auctions off truckloads of merchandise it purchases from these retailers via its online bidding platform, and winning bidders are directed to pick up their items at one of the local facilities.
“Since M@C Discount requires all bidders to pick-up their winnings at one of our warehouses, it was critical to expand our geographic footprint,” says co-founder Kellen Campbell.  “Our goal is to have a convenient location for all bidders in our region.  Now, even more Pittsburghers can save hundreds of dollars using the M@C Discount App.”

Consumers can check out current auctions online at www.mac.bid or through the free M@C Discount app (for Apple or Android).
