PITTSBURGH, PA, February 10, 2022, (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Pittsburgh Section is pleased to announce their 2021 Civil Engineering Award recipients who will receive recognition for their outstanding achievements at the Annual Awards Banquet on February 19, 2022, beginning at 5:00 pm at the Engineers Society of Western Pennsylvania, 337 Fourth Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15222. The 2021 Pittsburgh Section Awardees are:
 
  • Civil Engineer of the Year: Kimberly Kennedy, P.E., ALCOSAN
  • Young Civil Engineer of the Year: Shirley Tang, M.S.C.E., P.E., A.G.E.S., Inc.
  • Professor of the Year: Dr. Xinchao Wei, Slippery Rock University
  • Civil Engineering Achievement Award: I-579 Urban Open Space Cap Project
  • Award of Merit: Kenmawr Bridge Replacement Project
  • Award of Merit: Stormwater Code & Ordinance Review
  • Sustainability Award: Glasshouse
  • Journalism Award: Pittsburgh ENGINEER
  • Employer Recognition Award: McKim & Creed
 
The sold-out Engineering Week Awards Banquet will feature keynote speaker Mary Beth McGrew, Associate Vice Chancellor – Planning, Design, and Real Estate, University of Pittsburgh, University Master Plan Projects, Recreational Wellness Center, and Hillside Housing.
 
According to Erin Feichtner, P.E., President, ASCE Pittsburgh Section, “Our Pittsburgh ASCE members are a credit to our profession, and we are honored to recognize these remarkable individuals and accomplishments in our region, especially at a time when the public is gaining a better understanding of the role that civil engineering plays in their everyday lives.
