MOMS MATTER: COMMUNITY HEALTH EVENT & RESOURCE FAIR FOR FAMILIES TO LAUNCH ON APRIL 12TH.
 
“Overcoming the disparities that impact care and services in the Black Community” keynote address to be delivered by Dr. Rickquel P. Tripp, UPMC Emergency Medicine, and EMS Physician
 
 
MCKEES ROCKS, PA (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — On Wednesday, April 12, 12:00 PM – 4:00PM at The Shoppes at Chartiers Parking Lot, McKees Rocks, PA 15136, local providers are bringing our community together to host Moms Matter, a community health event and resource fair for McKees Rocks 4:00 PM and Stowe Township families. Over 25 organizations will be represented with information, services, and activities to connect families with key resources that support positive maternal and child health outcomes.
 
Moms Matter is extending an invitation to residents of the Allegheny County Housing Authority, and all families with children are welcome. The hosts hope this event will serve as a model that can be replicated throughout the region.
 
Information sessions will include the opportunity to “Ask a Pediatrician,” Doula Services, Breastfeeding Support, Early Head Start programs, CPR, and more. Dr. Rickquel P. Tripp will address “Overcoming the Disparities that impact care and Services in the Black Community” as our keynote speaker.
 
Health screenings such as blood pressure, glucose, and bone density will be available, as well as Covid prevention including COVID-19 vaccines for adults and free at-home test kits. Free health services will be provided by Allegheny Health Network, Sto-Rox Neighborhood Health Council, and UPMC Magee-Women’s Hospital.
 
A healthy and delicious box meal will be provided. Family activities include giveaways, line dancing, face painting, raffle prizes, and a fun and educational Science Bus experience.
