THE 5TH ANNUAL SWAG AWARDS CALL FOR NOMINATIONS IS OPEN THROUGH 10/2/2024

PITTSBURGH, September 4, 2024 (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — Vitamin C Healing is thrilled to announce that nominations are now open for the 5th Annual SWAG (Social Worker Appreciation of Greatness) Awards. Sponsored by the Allegheny County Department of Human Services, the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work, The Heinz Endowments, and UPMC Health Plan, this initiative is dedicated to recognizing social workers who make significant contributions to their communities while often facing challenges such as compassion fatigue and burnout.

The SWAG Awards were established to honor the legacy of historical African American social workers during Black History Month and to celebrate outstanding local social workers during National Social Work Month. The COVID-19 pandemic postponed the 2020 awards, leading to a virtual ceremony in 2021 where 21 remarkable individuals received recognition for their unwavering commitment to “heart work.”

The upcoming 5th Annual SWAG Awards will continue this tradition by honoring seven exceptional social workers from the Greater Pittsburgh area, including categories such as the Entrepreneur Social Worker Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award. These awards are intended to acknowledge those who embody Servant Leadership, champion social justice, foster generational healing, and demonstrate a steadfast commitment to community building.

We encourage the public to nominate deserving social workers who exemplify these qualities. To submit a nomination, please visit www.theswagawards.com/nominate.

The SWAG Awards ceremony will take place on March 22, 2025, at the Pittsburgh Sheraton in Station Square in honor of National Social Work Month.
