SWANTON, OH, Oct 18, 2024 (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — ‘Miles 2 Freedom’ (M2F), a veteran-focused bikepacking program based in Swanton, Ohio, will kick off its 5th annual ride on October 25, 2024. A team of veterans will begin their over 400-mile journey at 6 a.m. from the iconic Point State Park Fountain in downtown Pittsburgh. They will travel the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) and the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal Towpath (C&O) trails, finishing in Washington, D.C.

Throughout the multi-day journey, the veterans will camp and rest at various locations, carrying all their equipment on their bikes to embrace the spirit of self-sufficiency and resilience. This trek serves as both a physical and mental health challenge, reinforcing the importance of camaraderie, outdoor exploration, and mental wellness.

The M2F program encourages riders of all abilities to join along the route, whether for a mile, a day, or longer. It’s a unique opportunity for the public to show support and ride alongside veterans as they pursue “mental health freedom, one mile at a time.”

“Every mile on this journey represents progress—physically, mentally, and emotionally,” said an M2F representative. “This is more than just a ride; it’s a statement about resilience, healing, and the power of community.”

To stay updated on the team’s progress, follow their journey on the M2F Facebook page, where supporters can find details on the route, opportunities to ride along, and ways to help.

This inspiring adventure embodies the spirit of veterans supporting each other on their path to recovery and mental health—mile by mile, one pedal stroke at a time.
