WESTERN PA PIZZERIA FEATURED IN A STORY ABOUT PIZZA CHILDREN’S BOOK SERIES
Children’s Book Series celebrating Italian culture and pizza based on local pizzeria to be released on the 9th of February for National Pizza Day.
PITTSBURGH, PA, Feb 4, 2025 (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — A heartwarming and educational new children’s book series is about to take young readers on an unforgettable journey through Italian-American culture, family traditions, and, of course, the magic of pizza. A Story About Pizza, written by Pittsburgh native Erica D’Arcangelo, is set to bring the spirit of Italy’s culinary heritage to the pages of a new generation.
The first book in the series, Pietro’s Pizza, is inspired by the cozy pizzeria at D’Arc’s Pizza in Windber, a beloved local institution known for its authentic, family-style pizza and Italian food. The establishment was opened by Peter D’Arcangelo, and his wife Nicolette, back in 1960 and is still locally owned and operated today.
This vibrant, heartwarming book series will captivate children ages 2-12, introducing them to the world of pizza, fresh ingredients, and the importance of family connections.
Pietro’s Pizza: A Tale of Tradition and Togetherness
In the first book in the series, Pietro’s Pizza, young readers meet Pietro Americo, a boy with an immense passion for pizza. As the story unfolds, they follow Pietro into his family’s pizzeria, where he learns about the origins of pizza, the magic of fresh, local ingredients, and how food plays an essential role in bringing people together. Each chapter celebrates the Italian values of love, generosity, and the joy of sharing a meal with loved ones.
“Through Pietro’s eyes, readers will explore the beauty of Italian-American traditions—from making pizza dough to the vibrant sense of community that surrounds a family-owned pizzeria,” says author Erica D’Arcangelo. “It’s a story about heritage, family, and the simple joy of a shared meal.”
A Story About Pizza Series: A Cultural Journey with Every Slice
This exciting new series promises to be an engaging and fun-filled experience for children and parents alike. Each book blends playful storytelling with educational content about Italian culture, encouraging kids to learn more about family, food, and traditions. The colorful illustrations by Valeriia Honchar will bring the sights, sounds, and flavors of both Italy and small-town America to life, making readers feel like they are stepping into the warm, bustling kitchen of D’Arc’s Pizza.
In addition to the heartwarming stories, each book (beginning with book two) will feature a kid-friendly Italian recipe, giving young readers the chance to get creative in their own kitchens and connect even more with the traditions they read about. The series also comes with a full coloring book called Pietro’s Pizza Coloring Book that is available now.
