The first book in the series, Pietro’s Pizza, is inspired by the cozy pizzeria at D’Arc’s Pizza in Windber, a beloved local institution known for its authentic, family-style pizza and Italian food. The establishment was opened by Peter D’Arcangelo, and his wife Nicolette, back in 1960 and is still locally owned and operated today.

In the first book in the series, Pietro’s Pizza, young readers meet Pietro Americo, a boy with an immense passion for pizza.
