ALLEGHENY RIVERTRAIL PARK ANNOUNCES FREE SUMMER CONCERT SERIES LINE-UP SPONSORED BY THE SHORT FAMILY

Monthly Friday night concerts bring top local talent, food trucks, and waterfront fun to Pittsburgh’s favorite community park—free for all!

ASPINWALL , PA, April 15, 2025 (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — Allegheny RiverTrail Park is turning up the volume this summer with the return of its Free Summer Concert Series, sponsored by The Short Family. Now in its fifth season and better than ever, the series features nationally rising artists, some of Pittsburgh’s favorite bands, a waterfront stage, expanded food and drink options, and unbeatable views—all for free.

Concerts take place on the second Friday of each month, June through September. The shows begin at 7 PM but trust us, you’ll want to come early to grab the best spot! Bring your own chairs or a picnic blanket and stake out your place on the lawn, along the river’s edge, or perched atop Eagles Watch, a favorite lookout for park visitors offering unmatched views of the river and the entire park.

Enjoy dinner from local food trucks, sip on craft brews from Trace Brewing, and take in the scenic riverfront atmosphere that’s unlike anything else in Pittsburgh. This is not your average park concert—it’s a full-on summer experience.

“Live music brings good people together and is good for the soul,” says longtime supporter and sponsor Dave Short. “We’re proud to help make this special series accessible and free for everyone in the community.”

From Pittsburgh legends to nationally rising acts, this year’s lineup is stacked with talent sure to please any music lover:

Friday, June 13 – The Commonheart
A Pittsburgh favorite, The Commonheart brings explosive energy and feel-good positivity. With powerhouse vocals, a horn section, and a rock-soul blend that lifts the spirit, this nine-piece band sets the tone for a high-energy summer.

Friday, July 11 – Palmyra
A rising trio from Virginia, Palmyra blends folk, post-rock, and Southern roots with bold lyrics and a fresh sound. Named one of NPR’s “Best New Artists,” they’re not just playing music—they’re redefining it.

Friday, August 8 – Sun King Warriors
Led by Rusted Root founding member Jim Donovan, this high-energy band fuses roots rock with infectious rhythms. Their mix of originals and throwback favorites makes for a night that’s both nostalgic and electric.

Friday, September 12 – Good Brother Earl & Brownie Mary’s Kelsey & Co.
Pittsburgh favorites unite for one epic closing night! Brownie Mary’s Kelsey Friday and Americana rockers Good Brother Earl bring the tunes, the stories, and the soul.

All performances take place on the park’s riverside deck and summer stage, perfectly perched on the bank of the Allegheny – named The Elizabeth in loving memory of Elizabeth McCooey Fisher, thanks to the generosity of the Fisher family.  Whether you arrive by land or watch from the water, you’ll enjoy one of the best sunset views in the city. And yes, boaters are welcome and speakers face the river!

“Allegheny RiverTrail Park’s Summer Concert Series is more than just music. It’s a celebration of community, connection, and the beauty of Pittsburgh’s riverfront,” said Dee Stathis, Executive Director of Allegheny RiverTrail Park. “With a welcoming atmosphere, top-tier talent, incredible views, and free admission, there’s truly no place in Pittsburgh like it. It’s the perfect way to spend a Friday night.”

Allegheny RiverTrail Park is an independent, non-profit park located in Aspinwall, PA. Known as “the community’s front yard,” the park features a 1.5-mile trail, playground, dog park, fishing dock, marina, and a full calendar of year-round events. It’s a favorite spot for boaters, foodies, music lovers, and families alike.

Parking is available on-site but can fill quickly. We recommend ridesharing or biking.

The Summer Concert Series is free and open to the public. As an independent nonprofit, Allegheny RiverTrail Park thrives on community support. Donations help keep the music playing and the park open and accessible to all.
