PITTSBURGH, PA, October 7, 2025 (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — Amen Corner, one of Pittsburgh’s oldest non-partisan civic organizations, will host its 24th Annual AMEN CORNER Senator John Heinz Law Enforcement Awards Luncheon on Friday, October 17, 2025. This event will recognize 18 brave law enforcement officers from across Southwestern Pennsylvania for their acts of heroism and dedication above and beyond the call of duty.

More than 400 guests, including law enforcement, elected officials, media personalities and community leaders, are expected to attend the ceremony, which takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Doubletree Hotel Ballroom in Greentree.

Spotlight on Exceptional Courage
One of the awardees being honored will be Adams Township Sergeant Aaron Zaliponi, who will be honored for his extraordinary decisiveness during the July 13, 2024, Trump rally shooting in Butler County.  Officer Zaliponi was the first to engage and disrupt the shooter, potentially saving numerous lives at the event.

Luncheon Chair Larry Dunn noted: “The heroism displayed at the Butler County rally is just one example of the selfless bravery we have been honoring for a quarter-century at this event. This luncheon is our opportunity, as a community, to thank all of the dedicated men and women who keep our communities safe.”
