This will be a unique opportunity for many members of the Pittsburgh technology community to mix and discuss social media topics. The event is free with catered appetizers and beverages. The three hour event will give opportunities for group introductions, networking, social media presentations and raffles. Over 125 members of area technology groups, like SEMPO, Pittsburgh Technology Council, and PodCamp Pittsburgh, are anticipated to attend.
The event will take place at the innovative offices of the technology incubator AlphaLab. The AlphaLab location is a 5,000 square foot facility that contains open space for working or collaborating, individual offices for each company, conference rooms for larger meetings, and an engaging atmosphere.
Our keynote speaker, Ian Rosenberger, Social and Emerging Media Director of Strategic Images and former star of the hit show Survivor, will be discussing upcoming trends and opportunities, as well as, teaching us all a little something about surviving in the social media arena. In 2006, Ian ran his first ultra-thon in Cape Town, South Africa, a 36-mile endurance race to raise awareness for AIDS education in Africa. He was also a contestant on CBS Survivor: Palau, where he placed third. He’s spent extensive time hitchhiking and traveling Alaska, the Caribbean, Africa, and the South Pacific.
Most recently, he produced and hosted television programming for MTV, FC Fox, The Women’s Entertainment Network and the Discovery Channel. He has produced and shot content all over the United States, Great Britain, Finland and south-central Africa. He believes strongly in the value of pushing the limits of traditional television into new arenas and mediums.
