TRADITIONAL GERMAN OKTOBERFEST ON SEPTEMBER 3–5
Teutonia Männerchor Hosts its Fifth Annual Public Oktoberfest Celebration!

PITTSBURGH, PA (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — Teutonia Männerchor, located at 857 Phineas Street, will host its annual outdoor Oktoberfest event on September 3 to 5, and it is open to the public. Festivities will run on Friday, from 5:00 to 11:00 p.m., on Saturday, from noon to 11:00 p.m., and on Sunday, from noon to 6:00 p.m.

Oktoberfest is traditionally held in Munich, Germany, every September to celebrate the 1810 wedding of Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen. It is considered the largest “beer festival” in the world. Teutonia Männerchor is keeping this traditional festival alive in Pittsburgh. Teutonia Männerchor is one of the oldest German cultural societies in the United States, having been founded in 1854. The purpose of the club is to further choral singing, German cultural tradition, and good fellowship.

Admission for guests aged 18 and over is $5.00. Those under 18 are admitted free, with adult supervision. Compliance with current CDC guidelines is recommended.

The festival will feature “The Barons,” a traditional German fest band, and other performers. Authentic German food such as Bratwurst, Knockwurst, Oktoberfest chicken, apple strudel, Axel’s Pretzels, and more will be available. German beer will be on tap, featuring Hacker-Pschorr Munich Gold lager, wheat beer, dunkel (dark) beer, and of course, Oktoberfest beer. IC Light and pumpkin beer will be on tap as well, and wine and nonalcoholic beverages will also be available. A large tent in the parking lot of Comfort Inn on Phineas Street seats hundreds of guests, with space for dancing—keeping the festival open, rain or shine.

This year’s Oktoberfest is proud to add Frost Brown Todd Attorneys and the Comfort Inn & Suites Pittsburgh-Northshore as new prime sponsors.
