Pittsburgh Comedian & Filmmaker Team Up for NYE 90’s Throwback Comedy Special

PITTSBURGH, PA, December 15, 2021, (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — As the end of the year comes near, it’s time to close out 2021 and bring 2022 in with a laugh. Local Pittsburghers Dave Stewart and Ally Mazzoni are bringing comedy and nostalgia to close out the year via their upcoming 90’s throwback comedy special, featuring local comedic talent, streaming on YouTube December 31st.

 

The comedy event has been a long time in the making. A stand-up comedy special and yinzer tribute to the 90’s, “LIVE from the Backyard” stemmed from the minds of its producers; Dave Stewart and Ally Mazzoni. Borne out of a love for the decade the pair grew up in, as well as the appreciation of the healing power a good laugh, they decided to team up and bring “the good old days” back to Pittsburgh with a 90’s/VHS-style comedy special featuring local Pittsburgh talent. “LIVE from the Backyard” is looking to bring LIVE, albeit safely remote, entertainment to COVID-fatigued remote audiences. It will be fully accessible via a free YouTube link, so audiences can enjoy and have a good laugh within the safety of their own homes.

 

Filmed entirely in a Pittsburgh backyard and with a line-up of local Pittsburgh comedians, this is just as much an homage to 90’s comedy specials as it is a love letter to Pittsburgh and its local talent. The local talent in the show have graced the Pittsburgh stand-up stages for years and have are staples in the local comedy scene. The fantastic line-up includes Marcus Cox, Stacey Fleurime and Cody Cannon.

About The Producers:
Comedian Dave Stewart is a Pittsburgh native, originally from Natrona Heights and now of Troy Hill. He is known for his ongoing comedy show series “Real Pittsburgh Stories” at the Arcade Comedy Theatre. He is also a DJ, stand-up comedian, chef, and modern-day renaissance man.

 

Filmmaker Ally Mazzoni is a (mostly) lifetime resident of Cranberry, known to showcase her hometown of Pittsburgh in her work. She is also known for her debut production, a Christmas-themed web series entitled “A Very Covid Christmas”, which she wrote, directed and produced. The series has garnered a collective 30,000 views and won her a Telly Award.
