HANDINHAND COUNSELING SERVICES LAUNCHES COMPREHENSIVE TRAUMA TRACK PROGRAM TO SUPPORT TRAUMA RECOVERY

PITTSBURGH, PA, Sept 18, 2024 (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — HandinHand Counseling Services is proud to announce the launch of its new 8-week Trauma Track program, SIGH (Strength in Growth and Healing: A Pathway to Trauma Recovery). This program is specifically designed to support adults aged 21-65 who meet DSM-V criteria for trauma-related conditions. Built on a foundation of evidence-based therapies, holistic approaches, and culturally competent clinicians, the program aims to provide a comprehensive and supportive environment for trauma recovery.

The SIGH program offers a multi-dimensional approach to trauma recovery, with a variety of services to support participants on their healing journey. The program includes:
  • Group Therapy: Engaging in community-based healing through structured group sessions.
  • Trauma-Informed Bodywork: Integrating physical and emotional recovery to enhance overall well-being.
  • Individual Counseling: Receiving one-on-one guidance from trauma-informed clinicians to address personal recovery needs.
  • Skill-Building Techniques: Learning practical tools for managing stress, anxiety, and other trauma-related symptoms.
“We strive for a world where trauma no longer dictates the present experiences of Black people, allowing us to shape our own narrative,” say [Tess Kenney, LPC, and Sharise Nance, LCSW, CCTP; Owners and Founders of HandinHand Counseling Services, LLC]. “We understand that recovery is a unique journey for each person, and our program combines various therapeutic modalities to cater to those individual needs.”

Trauma can take many forms, some of which may not be immediately recognized as trauma. Adults often face experiences that leave a lasting impact on their mental and emotional health, such as microaggressions—subtle, often unintentional, discriminatory comments or behaviors that perpetuate stereotypes—and vicarious trauma, which occurs when individuals absorb the emotional burdens of others’ traumatic experiences. Other forms of trauma can include chronic stress from systemic injustices, workplace bullying, or being a witness to traumatic events. The SIGH program addresses these and other forms of trauma, acknowledging that healing must encompass both overt and subtle forms of harm.

HandinHand Counseling Services invites individuals struggling with trauma-related symptoms to explore this transformative opportunity. Enrollment is now open for the upcoming sessions, and those interested are encouraged to reach out for a consultation to determine if the SIGH program is the right fit for their recovery journey.
