PENN’S COLONY FESTIVAL FEATURED IN ALASKA AIR’ MAGAZINE, BEYOND
SAXONBURG, PA (Butler County) (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — The 35th annual Penn’s Colony Festival is featured in “Alaska Beyond” magazine this month. Editors selected Penn’s Colony Festival as a destination event to mark Alaska Airlines new Pittsburgh-Seattle route which launched September 6th.
The Penn’s Colony Festival is open the weekends of September 22nd, 23rd and 29th, 30th. The festival presents a colonial village of handcrafted goods and food from more than 185 artisans. It provides an educational look at the western Pennsylvania French and Indian era with battle re-enactments and historical presentations. Entertainment includes colonial music, Celtic bands, bagpipes and drums, horse-drawn carriage rides, a colonial style carousel and children’s activities like tug o’ war games and sack races. The festival’s 18th century-style circus performance features magic acts, unusual skills and glass harp demonstrations.
“It is an honor that the editors of Alaska Beyond recognize Penn’s Colony as a festival with a celebration and purpose that is unique to this region,” said Raymond Rush, founder and director. “Penn’s Colony is a unique festival that’s close to home for anyone living in the tri-state region.”
