SWAG AWARDS TO BE HELD MARCH 26, 2022, 5PM-7:30PM

PITTSBURGH, PA, March 22, 2022, (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — We are excited to announce that the SWAG (Social Worker Appreciation of Greatness) Awards is able to hold an in-person ceremony to honor extraordinary social workers in the Pittsburgh region. The SWAG Awards are a project of Vitamin C Healing, a professional organization dedicated to serving those in the helping professions suffering from compassion fatigue and burnout. The awards were created specifically to honor historical African American social workers both during Black History Month and local social workers during National Social Work Month.

Due to the pandemic, the 2020 awards were shifted to a virtual ceremony in 2021 that honored 21 amazing individuals committed to “heart work.”
This year, we are excited to be back in person. We will honor seven awardees who have exhibited excellence in the field of social work during a global health crisis that has had far-reaching effects on vulnerable populations in the western Pennsylvania region. A committee appointed by Vitamin C Healing contacted various community leaders and non-profit organizations across the region to request submissions of individuals worthy of consideration for a SWAG award. While it was difficult to choose just some honorees from a field of so many amazing individuals, we are honored to have the chance to recognize the hard work done by our awardees. The ceremony is sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Ujamaa Collective, Neighborhood Allies, and Village Therapy.

For more information about the SWAG awards please contact founder Sharise Nance. The event is sold out for in-person attendance, but Nance is available for interviews or statements.
