MOMS NOW HAVE A RESOURCE TO LEARN, NETWORK, AND ADVOCATE FOR EQUITY IN THE WORKPLACE

Introducing MomsWork, a program powered by National Council of Jewish Women Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, PA, March 22, 2022, (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — National Council of Jewish Women Pittsburgh is excited to announce the addition of MomsWork to its menu of targeted programming supporting women, children, and families in the Pittsburgh area.

MomsWork, formerly known as Center for Women, continues the important work of empowering women who seek financial wellbeing through a strengthened focus on moms. MomsWork encourages, inspires, and supports moms to earn a paycheck and search for new employment; all while they manage their family’s evolving needs.

“Moms who work for pay, or want to, need all the help they can get. Pandemic disruptions showed us in stark relief just how much further we need to go to improve work/life integration,” says Megan Rose, Director of MomsWork. “We are proud to have started meeting this need by building a community that encourages, inspires, and supports working moms. Investing in the financial well-being of moms is not optional; it is essential to an equitable economic recovery.”

MomsWork provides free services, including educational seminars taught by industry experts, which focus on everything from retirement planning to workplace skill readiness and more. MomsWork also hosts a group on LinkedIn that is currently serving more than 300 members. That group is a community convened to share open employment positions and get and give an insider’s perspective on what it’s really like to work there.

In addition, MomsWork advocates for improving the lives of working families, centered on strengthening and stabilizing child care, including access to it, affordability of it, and ensuring fair compensation for early childhood educators. MomsWork also helps connect individuals to the resources needed to advocate for themselves to their employers and to legislators for flexible work schedules, remote work, paid sick leave, lactation rooms, and paid family leave.

Teddi Horvitz, President of the Board at NCJW Pittsburgh said, “MomsWork is not just a program, it’s a movement that we expect to change the game for working mothers in our region and beyond.”
