BLACK FAMILIES IN THE FIGHT

A Community Conversation on the Intersection of the Black Family and Advocacy

PITTSBURGH, PA (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — For years, Black Families have been on the frontlines when it comes to advocating for freedom, Civil Rights, and criminal justice reform – not often by choice. Join 1Hood Media and POISE Foundation for a community conversation on the intersection of the Black Families and Advocacy with special guest, Dr. Michael Eric Dyson at the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at 7:00PM. Dr. Dyson is a Professor of Sociology at Georgetown University. He is also a New York Times best-selling author, an MSNBC Political Analyst, a New York Times contributing opinion writer, and a contributing editor of The New Republic and of ESPN’s The Undefeated website.

Other local guests include, Michelle Kenney – mother of Antwon Rose II and Youth Activist, Christian Carter. Together, we will explore the role the Black Family has played historically in the fight for Civil Rights and freedoms; the impact; how this fight is playing out presently nationwide and locally; and finally, how we as a community support Black Families that find themselves in the fight. Tickets for this event are $10 and may be purchased through Eventbrite at http://bit.ly/Community_Convo. Doors will open at 6PM and limited scholarships are available.
