BEST-SELLING PITTSBURGH AUTHOR JAMES ROSENBERG
RELEASES NEW NOVEL, “THE JERSEY”
PITTSBURGH, PA (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — Best-selling Pittsburgh novelist James Rosenberg is back with a new story, this time taking a departure from the legal thriller genre and diving into exploring life’s expected and unexpected moments surrounding love, loss, and the redemptive power of a group of motivated eleven-year-old kids. The book is titled, The Jersey.
“This story is personal for me,” says Rosenberg. “It was actually the first novel I ever wrote, but didn’t publish right away because the storyline was too personal. The plot in ‘The Jersey’ reflects events that were central to me when my kids, who are now teenagers, were much younger and investigates issues I have long considered, including the topic of grief and how one overcomes overwhelming and unexpected tragedy.”
The story is set in present-day Pittsburgh and many of the neighborhood scenes will feel quite familiar, especially to those who know and love Squirrel Hill and Oakland. Although not mentioned exactly by name, some local parks, restaurants, and hospitals make cameo appearances as well.
Anthony Avina, blogger and fellow independent author reviewed ‘The Jersey’ reacting with, “Emotional, heartbreaking and real…Showcasing the painful process of loss and grief and searching for a way to overcome them both. Rosenberg does an amazing job creating a protagonist and narrative that readers can engage with and care for greatly.”
“The story initially started as an essay I wrote for fun about my son and his real-life experience as a nine year- old playing on an all-star baseball team,” says Rosenberg. “It evolved into a nightly recitation with my (then little) kids during their bedtime routine. They loved the series of challenges faced by Charley, a central character in the book, and helped to shape the story with their ideas of how he could overcome life’s hurdles. Ultimately, the tale morphed into a story about overcoming loss, but it was really my kids’ influence in developing the contours of the trials faced by the characters that means so much to me.”
Rosenberg hosted a release party at Mystery Lovers Bookshop on November 8th, surrounded by friends and fans. ‘The Jersey’ is available in paperback on Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, and in several local independent bookstores including Mystery Lovers Bookshop in Oakmont. The digital version can be downloaded on Kindle, Nook, and iTunes. The audiobook, recorded by storyteller/actor Brian Avers, is currently in production and will be available on Audible by the end of November.
