PITTSBURGH TECHNICAL COLLEGE CLOSES AND ENTERS RECEIVERSHIP

PITTSBURGH, PA, Feb 28, 2025 (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — Pittsburgh Technical College has officially closed and entered receivership under a consent order issued by the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County. As part of this process, the College will liquidate its assets.

Students affected by the closure have been notified of available replacement classes or structured “teach-out” plans to complete their coursework.

In coordination with Pennsylvania state authorities, students who paid deposits for classes or services that were not provided will receive instructions on how to file refund claims. These claims must be submitted to the appointed Receiver, Meridian Management Partners, no later than April 4, 2025. Eligible students may receive repayment from a special fund established by the College to protect student creditors. Claims can be filed via email at PTCReceivership@meridianmp.com.

Other creditors, as well as students not eligible for reimbursement from the special fund, must also file claims by April 4, 2025. However, it remains uncertain whether sufficient funds will be available to cover these claims.

The latest Receivership Order, entered by Judge Ward on February 3, 2025 (Case No. GD-24-010866), appoints Meridian Management Partners as the Dissolution Receiver. The Receiver has been granted full authority to manage, protect, liquidate, and, if necessary, abandon assets for the benefit of all creditors.
