¡CHINCHÍN! BALVANERA PITTSBURGH PRESENTS: INTRODUCTION TO MALBEC – A PREMIER ARGENTINE WINE EDUCATION COURSE TAUGHT BY WINE DIRECTOR BILL KOHL

PITTSBURGH, PA, August 30, 2025 (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — BALVANERA, the Argentine restaurant serving regional fare and wine in the heart of Pittsburgh’s Strip District invites guests to its very own “Introduction to Malbec.” Debuting Tuesday, September 16th from 6-8pm, the fun and educational class, led by BALVANERA Wine Director Bill Kohl, celebrates the world-famous Argentinian grape with a tasting journey through the regions of Argentina.

“It’s always been a priority for us to offer one of the most relevant and diverse Argentine wine lists – and this requires a specific attention to Malbec,” says Co-Owner and Head Chef, Fernando Navas. “Through this course, we’re showcasing the vast styles of this singular grape, expressed through the country’s diverse terroir.”

BALVANERA Chef/Owner Fernando Navas and General Manager/Wine Director Bill Kohl recently visited Argentina on the search for new gems from the country’s new and established wineries. On this trip they came back with wine list additions from Altos Las Hormigas and Catena that will be showcased during the course.

ABOUT BALVANERA
BALVANERA is a destination for Argentine food and wine in the heart of Pittsburgh’s Strip District community at The Terminal. The first project of Argentine Chef Fernando Navas (SUSHISAMBA, elBulli, Nobu) and Pittsburgh-native Meredith Boyle (SUSHISAMBA, Duck & Waffle, Chef’s Club) BALVANERA opened its first location in 2014 on New York City’s Lower East Side. The restaurant takes its name from a historic ‘barrio’, or  neighborhood, of Buenos Aires where poets, musicians and creatives once convened; it was home to the city’s original meat market, Abasto. BALVANERA’s menu and philosophy are inspired by the nostalgia of Fernando’s Argentine roots, upbringing and the culinary culture he acquired on his journey through Buenos Aires, Barcelona and New York City. Open daily from 5 pm for dinner and for weekend brunch from 11 am – 2:30 pm. 1660 Smallman Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15222, http://www.balvanerarestaurants.com, @balvanerapgh.
