5TH ANNUAL PITTSBURGH BEERFEST IS FEB. 23-24, 2017
Presented By Fat Head’s Brewery & Kahiki Foods
400+ craft beers, local food vendors, and live music at David L. Lawrence Convention Center
PITTSBURGH, PA (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — It may feel like Spring but this weekend the 5th Annual Pittsburgh Winter Beerfest – a two-night celebration of craft beer – returns to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in downtown Pittsburgh for 3 sessions over two nights on Feb. 23-24.
Breweries, beer enthusiasts, and fun seekers will gather for the region’s biggest winter beer festival and now one of the Top 5 Largest Festivals in the USA.   Attendees will enjoy unlimited samples of more than 400+ fresh craft beers of all styles and tastes from more than 120 different local and national breweries. Fat Head’s Brewery is again the presenting sponsor of the Beerfest.  Be sure to visit their Southside location.
The Burgh’s Favorite party band The Lava Game will provide live music and Pittsburgh-area restaurants and food trucks will provide food service at the convention center.  Other fun attractions include a new Virtual Reality Area, the legendary Silent Disco and unique commercial vendors.
The beer festival will be held on both Friday and Saturday nights, with regular admission at 7:30 p.m. and early admission at 6:30 p.m. for each session. The very popular Saturday Day Session returns on Saturday from 1 – 4:30 p.m. with early admission for the Day Session starting at 12 p.m.
Upgrade to the Connoisseur’s Reception Ticket ($85) and enjoy exclusive beers and incredible bites from local restaurants… all in a special area with views of the River and private restrooms.   The event will end at 11 p.m. each evening. For tickets, visit www.PittsburghBeerfest.com.
Restaurants attending this year’s Beerfest include: Pizza Parma; Emporio; The Pretzel Shop; Bavarian Nuts; Chocolate Freaking Bacon; and Jerky Hut. This year’s Pittsburgh Beerfest will also host a variety of Food Trucks including: Umami bites; Nakama; Taste of Nawlins; PGH Pierogies; Rowdy’s BBQ; and Vagabond Tacos.
Proceeds from the festival will go to support Animal Rescue Partners, a regional  organization focused on caring for homeless and injured animals, and Biggies Bullies of Pittsburgh, a small non-profit organization dedicated to fostering and re-homing pit bull type dogs in Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas.
“Last year, the Outdoor NHL game at Heinz Field fell right on our Saturday, so we’re excited to see sales return to those of 2 years ago.  Pittsburgh is showing what a great craft beer loving town it is. Even without the game, the Saturday afternoon session is proving quite popular and allows us to lower the crowds in the night sessions making it a better event for everyone.  It’s amazing how in just these few short years, this event has grown to be one of the largest and best beer festivals in the Nation,” said Festival Director Craig Johnson.
This year’s festival will offer a huge number of craft beers (400-plus this year), along with the space and comfort of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in the heart of the city, with hotel rooms only a short walk away.
The Pittsburgh Beerfest is not only the biggest winter beer festival in Pittsburgh and the best party of the winter, but it’s also a great way to support local and national craft brewers as well as the warmhearted mission of Biggies Bullies and Animal Rescue Partners. Go to www.BiggiesBullies.org for more information about their Pittsburgh area programs.
