THE EARLY MAYS IN CONCERT FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY!

TARENTUM, PA
(PittsburghNewsWire.com) — ONE NIGHT ONLY! THE EARLY MAYS will be performing  “Appalachian-inspired folk music” on Sunday, March 6 at 4:00 p.m. at Central Presbyterian Church, 305 Allegheny Street, Tarentum, PA 15084, 724-224-9220. A goodwill offering will be accepted.

The Early Mays burst on to the folk music scene in 2014 with a #2 debut on the National Folk-DJ charts and the WYEP Artist of the Year award. Rhythmic, evocative, dark and wistful, their Appalachian-inspired folk songs are built on deep country sensibilities, masterful ballad singing and a sweet old-time sound. Fiddle, banjo, guitar and harmonium are the backdrop for vocal harmonies.

In 2016, Emily Pinkerton and Ellen Gozion are beginning an exciting new collaboration with singer and multi-instrumentalist Rachel Eddy. Born and raised in West Virginia, Rachel is a prolific performer who has shared the stage with songwriters and old-time legends including Tim O’Brien, Uncle Earl and Bruce Molsky.

“…They sang harmonies that made my own heart sing. Close, perfect, high and sweet, intricate parts worked out that seemed as natural as breathing, we were swept away.” Susanna Robinson Kenga, LBSpy, Lewisburg, WV

“As local folk music goes, The Early Mays are a bit of a super group.” The trio consists of Rachel Eddy, Ellen Gozion and Emily Pinkerton, all well-known in their own rights. “Together, they literally make beautiful music — a play on the Appalachian folk all three are steeped in, with close vocal harmonies, and guitar, banjo and fiddle work.” Andy Mulkerin, Pittsburgh City Paper
