ASCE PITTSBURGH CELEBRATES 2018 CIVIL ENGINEERING AWARDS
Regional Projects, Civil Engineers, Students, and Professions dedicated to the Civil Engineering field to be Recognized at Annual Celebration on February 16th
PITTSBURGH, PA (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — The Pittsburgh Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), is pleased to announce their 2018 Civil Engineering Award recipients, who will receive recognition for their outstanding achievements at the Annual Awards Banquet on February 16, 2019, beginning at 5:00 pm at the Engineers Society of Western Pennsylvania, 337 Fourth Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.

  • CIVIL ENGINEERING ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: Liberty Bridge Project

  • DISTINGUISHED CIVIL ENGINEER OF THE YEAR AWARD: William Trimbath, PE, MSc
  • STUDENT AWARDS FOUNDATION FINALISTS:
– Alexa Janikowski, a junior at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, is obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, and an active member of the ASCE Student Chapter, Captain of the Steel Bridge Team, member of the Concrete Canoe Team, and a member of the Society of Women Engineers Student Chapter.
– Ryan Rusali, a sophomore at Carnegie Mellon University obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and Engineering and Public Policy, an active member of the ASCE Student Chapter, and the Student Chapter Communications Director. Additionally, Ryan volunteers as a teaching assistant to introduce STEM topics to elementary and middle school students, serves as a Residential Assistance and Orientation Counselor for CMU, earned the Eagle Scout Award and National Park Service Volunteer Award.
– Justin Towsey, a senior at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown obtaining his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, an active member of the ASCE Student Chapter. He has fulfilled several leadership roles such as the Co-Captain of the Concrete Canoe Team and Mold Construction Manager in his sophomore year, Captain of the Concrete Canoe Team the following year, and currently serving as the ASCE Student Chapter President. He also serves as a member of the ASCE GeoWall Team and Alumni Coordinator.
Note: The ASCE-PGH Awards Committee presents People Awards, Project Awards, and Employer Awards. ASCE-PGH Student Awards Foundations presents scholarship awards through donations by American Bridge Company and the Mackin Engineering Company.
Keynote speaker, Joe McAllister, Co-founder of Brew: The Museum of Beer will kick-off the banquet with a talk on the stories and origins of brew in Pittsburgh.
