PITTSBURGH PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZING TEAM ON A&E’S HOARDERS SHOW MONDAY JULY 27TH AT 8PM EST

PITTSBURGH, PA (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — Local Pittsburgh Professional Organizing firm, Discover Organizing®, will be represented as featured guest experts on the American reality television show “Hoarders” on A&E Network.  The 2 hour-long episode airing Monday, July 27, 2020 at 8pm EST, depicts the real-life struggles and treatment of a woman in West Virginia who suffers from a hoarding disorder. A&E Network’s episode summary states that “Sherry’s justification for her massive hoard is that it protects her from the outside world, resulting in a 6-foot high wall of trash blocking entry into the home.  Relationships are tested when Sherry attempts to work with her son and daughter to clear her massive hoard.”

With the help of the Hoarders team, including members from Pittsburgh’s largest organizing firm, Discover Organizing® and local hauling company, G.I.Haul, Sherry will be offered a chance to begin again in her home.

Discover Organizing® is a Professional Organizing firm based in Pittsburgh, employing over 15 Professional Organizers, Senior Move Managers and Professional Photo Organizers.  Their specialties include working with individuals whose lives are affected by chronic disorganization and Hoarding Disorder, and with brain-based as well as physical challenges that inhibit their activities of daily living and overall wellness. Discover Organizing® was founded in 2003 by Certified Professional Organizer®, Jill Yesko, who expressed gratitude for their chance to be on the show.  “This experience was life changing for our team.  Having the opportunity to help someone who really needed our compassionate and positive approach, as well as our years of experience with this disorder, was incredibly satisfying.  We worked one-on-one with Sherry, helping her to sort out and discard years of forgotten items, guiding her in the process to keep only the items that would truly benefit her life today.  We were really careful to respect her mental health needs and to not cause any harm in the process”, she said.

Three of the company’s most tenured organizing experts were chosen to be part of the therapeutic solution for Sherry.  Because of their previous professional experience and education in working intensely with individuals and families affected by hoarding disorder, those members selected for the team are:

Jill Yesko, Certified Professional Organizer®, and Principal Organizer, Discover Organizing Inc.®  and the President of the Pittsburgh Chapter of NAPO (National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals),  Sandy Kutchman, Lead Professional Organizer at Discover Organizing Inc.®  and Director of Development for the Pittsburgh Chapter of NAPO, and Ceri Binotto, Lead Professional Organizer and Certified Senior Move Manager with Discover Organizing Inc.®

The Institute of Challenging Disorganization  (ICD) is a study group and subscription-based association, composed of Professional Organizers like Ms. Yesko, as well as Psychologists, Social Workers, Therapists and Case Managers.  It is an international education-based organization which offers a generous and robust offering of information about hoarding disorder, brain-based conditions, and behaviors that contribute to an individual’s ability to function in their home environment and inhibit relationships.  “ICD is the one place we can go to really take a deeper dive into the psychological effects that cluttered environments can have on our clients.  The education that we have received in this organization has been key to our success in working collaboratively and empathetically with our clients who suffer from hoarding and other brain-based challenges”, Jill said of ICD, of which she and Sandy are both subscribers. About 6 percent of the population or 19,000 million Americans are dealing with compulsive hoarding.
