We are specifically seeking local Pittsburgh women to play Kathryn Kuhlman at ages 60, 30, and 18. Ideal candidates should have auburn hair and a slender build, capturing Kathryn’s commanding and mystical presence. Kathryn Kuhlman, who made her home base in Pittsburgh, conducted her early faith healing services at the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Pittsburgh, where she drew large crowds.

About the Film
Set against the vibrant backdrop of 1970s Pittsburgh, Heaven’s Dance explores themes of faith, love, betrayal, and resilience. The story reveals Kathryn’s divine calling, her struggles with loneliness and societal rejection, and her deep roots in Pittsburgh’s faith community—where her groundbreaking healing services at the First Presbyterian Church helped propel her to national fame.
Through flashbacks and intimate present-day reflections, the film portrays her journey from a farm girl with a stutter to a global healing icon, defying gender norms and ecclesiastical constraints. The story also highlights her enduring connection to Pittsburgh.
The film aims for a raw, character-driven approach, emphasizing practical effects, authentic Pittsburgh locations—including historic churches—and a textured visual style that blends realism with spiritual mystique. With a budget target of $1–2 million, Heaven’s Dance seeks to ignite conversations about faith, gender, and resilience, both in Pittsburgh and beyond.
About the Filmmaker
Richard Rossi, a Pittsburgh native, has directed four prior feature films, including Baseball’s Last Hero: 21 Clemente Stories, the first feature drama about Pittsburgh Pirates legend Roberto Clemente. Rossi focused on Clemente’s spiritual journey, overcoming racism and his life of service to others. His script for Heaven’s Dance was crafted during his MFA studies at the David Lynch School of Cinematic Arts. Rossi’s storytelling continues to reflect his connection to Pittsburgh and its inspiring history.
A Pittsburgh Origin Story
Kathryn Kuhlman’s early healing services, which fueled her rise to national prominence, were held at the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Pittsburgh. It was here she first captivated audiences with her radiant presence, setting the stage for her legendary career in faith healing.
