PENN BREWERY CELEBRATES OKTOBERFEST 2016 LIKE A KAISER
WITH EXPANDED VIP PACKAGE OPTIONS, SEPTEMBER 16TH-18TH AND 23RD-25TH
PITTSBURGH, PA (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — In response to the overwhelming popularity of the Oktoberfest VIP ticket option introduced two years ago, Penn Brewery is expanding its offerings to three different VIP options for this year’s Fest, slated for the weekends of September 16th-18th and 23rd-25th.  This year’s Fest comes on the heels of Penn’s 30th anniversary party held in June.

“Our guests have really gone for the VIP package in a big way,” said Sandy Cindrich, Penn’s President and CEO. “So we’re offering an even larger variety of extra amenities for them to choose from.”

Although Penn does not charge a cover or require an advance ticket purchase for admission to Oktoberfest, guests can opt to buy a VIP package to reserve seating and other perks at the event.
Details for this year’s three packages are as follows:

VIP Silver-$45
•Reserved high-top table & stools in the upper tent
•Plastic German liter stein ($10 value)
•Two mug fills ($22 value)
•VIP meal ($10 value)
•VIP-only beer and food lines

VIP Gold – $65
•Reserved seating in tented Terrace area
•Plastic German liter stein ($10 value)
•Two mug fills ($22 value)
•VIP meal ($10 value)
•VIP-only beer and food lines
•Private indoor restrooms
•Tap of Oktoberfest beer within tent area

VIP Group (for Eight People) – $479
•Table for eight near the band stage
•Platter of appetizers for the table ($80 value)
•Eight plastic German liter steins ($80 value)
•20 mug fills for the table ($220 value)
•Eight VIP meals ($80 value)
•VIP-only beer and food lines

Tickets may be purchased at Showclix. Each VIP package is valid for a single Friday or Saturday night, and the date must be selected at the time of purchase. A limited number of packages are available for each night, and sales are first come, first served.

In addition to the new VIP offerings, plenty of Penn beer and food will be sold a la carte. Six styles of beer – Gold, Pilsner, Kaiser Pils, Dark, Berlinerweisse, and of course, Oktoberfest, will be flowing on draft. Along with the traditional brats and pretzels, Penn is also adding several new items to the Fest menu, including a grilled Schweinebraten platter and a German Klopse (meatball) sandwich. (Full menu attached.)

Live entertainment (full schedule attached) includes performances from
•The Autobahn Band, specializing in German/Bavarian music;
•Heimat Klang, a veteran of many Penn Brewery Oktoberfests;
•Kevin Solecki, a Grammy-nominated strolling accordionist;
•Mädel Jäger, a quartet of “Bros-in-Hosen.”

Penn’s Oktoberfest celebration will run from 5:00 pm to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays (over 21 only after 8:00 pm), and noon to 10:00 pm on Sundays.  Oktoberfest events are cash only, except meals in the main dining room. No reservations will be taken for Fest days, and Penn Brewery will be closed on the Mondays following Oktoberfest weekends, September 19th and 26th.  Penn will also be open for lunch as usual from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays during Fest (a limited Fest menu only will be offered in the restaurant during Oktoberfest weekends.)

Penn’s Oktoberfest doesn’t end after the tents come down on September 26th,  however.  Guests can celebrate the German festival from September 13th through October 31st with Penn’s special Oktoberfest menu in the restaurant. Limited-time dishes, including Krustenbraten (German beer-roasted pork roast) and Hasenpfeffer (savory braised rabbit), will be showcased.

For those planning their own Oktoberfest celebration this year, Penn can also cater private events. To submit a request, and for additional Oktoberfest details, visit pennbrew.com.

Penn Brewery, opened in 1986, is Pittsburgh’s oldest and largest brewery. Penn specializes in award-winning German-style craft beers, and serves traditional “Euro-Pittsburgh” fare including wurst, schnitzel, pierogi, and goulash, in its restaurant.  The Brewery is located in Deutschtown on Pittsburgh’s North Side, in the mid nineteenth-century landmark E&O Brewery Building.
