ALICE WILLIAMS HONORED AS COMMUNITY CHAMPION AT GATEWAY MEDICAL SOCIETY’S BLACK EXCELLENCE IN WHITE COATS AWARDS & SCHOLARSHIP GALA
PITTSBURGH, PA, October 27, 2025 (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — Alice Williams, founder of WEEE Care, an initiative of the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Women Empowered for Entrepreneurial Excellence (WEEE), was recognized as a Community Champion on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the Gateway Medical Society’s Black Excellence in White Coats Awards & Scholarship Gala at the Pittsburgh Marriott City Center.
Williams was honored for her leadership in advancing equitable health access across Western Pennsylvania. Under her direction, WEEE Care developed a proactive strategy to address health disparities exacerbated by COVID-19 and to rebuild trust in public health interventions. In partnership with Livingston Pharmacy, additional local pharmacies, and Pittsburgh Black Nurses in Action, WEEE Care launched mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinics that brought culturally responsive inoculation and education directly to historically marginalized neighborhoods.
“I am truly honored that the Gateway Medical Society chose me as a ‘Making a Difference’ awardee at the 2025 Awards and Scholarship Gala,” said Alice Williams, founder of WEEE and visionary behind WEEE Care. “I accept this recognition on behalf of our entire team, including Pittsburgh Black Nurses in Action and many medical professionals, whose commitment made our vaccination outreach both possible and culturally responsive.”
In addition to Williams’s recognition, the Gala celebrated other distinguished honorees:
- Physician of the Year: Dr. Felicia Snead
- Rising Star of the Year: Dr. Piper Carroll
- Lifetime Achievement Award: Dr. Lawrence Gipson
- Community Champions: Alice Williams, Sylvia Fields, and Marcia M. Sturdivant, Ph.D.
