About M.A.D. D.A.D.S.:

M.A.D. D.A.D.S. was founded in 1989 by a group of concerned Omaha, Nebraska, African American men and fathers who were fed up with gang violence and the unmolested flow of illegal drugs in their community. M.A.D. D.A.D.S. activities are designed to promote and demonstrate positive images of fathers engaging in community development and protecting youth and families. M.A.D. D.A.D.S. uses highly-evaluated, best practice models to provide a proven vehicle for communities to make their neighborhoods safer. M.A.D. D.A.D.S. develops local solutions for local problems using local men and women of the community.

There are now chapters across the country that provides programs such as:

Street Patrol: Trained staff and volunteers reach out every day by riding buses, visiting schools and recreation centers, and maintaining a public presence to promote community safety.

Mentoring and Community Service: We act as surrogate parents and counsel youth on the streets, teaching them to become responsible adults, by EXAMPLE.
Bike Program: We repair, refurbish, and donate hundreds of bikes annually to community children and people with special needs.
Fathering and Men’s Empowerment Program: We work with incarcerated men of all ages, those leaving prison, their families and others in the community to help young men and fathers develop life skills, pursue their education, maintain sobriety from drugs and alcohol, obtain jobs, be positively involved in their children’s lives, and not re-offend.
