GLADE RUN LAUNCHES NEW TRANSITIONAL AUTISM PROGRAM
ZELIENOPLE, PA (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — Glade Run Lutheran Services (Glade Run) is pleased to announce the newest addition to its impressive continuum of services for individuals with autism and other neuro-diversities. The Glades, a two-year residential offering for young adults ages 18 and over, is a structured transitional life development academy that prepares participants for successful and permanent independence. Program participants utilize the Learn4Independence two-year curriculum developed by First Place in Arizona. These 32 semester-length courses are taught on site at Butler County Community College. A highly structured, supportive, and connected environment reinforces and builds on crucial independent living and vocational skills. Participants have the opportunity to apply daily instruction in the community, in independent living classrooms, and within their residence at Matthew Hall, the program’s Zelienople based and autism friendly transitional housing.
“We are so pleased to have developed a continuum of services for parents of young adults with autism and other neuro-diversities,” says Glade Run president and chief operating officer Steven Green. “The Glades will provide a solution for parents wishing to help launch their young adult children into independence, and a caring and supportive environment for those individuals to live, learn, and work.” The Glades program director Christopher Smith can be contacted at csmith@gladerun.org or 724-452-4453, ext. 1112 for questions or to schedule a tour.  Additionally, an open house event will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the program’s location at 485 W. Beaver Road, Zelienople, PA 16063.
