PITTSBURGH, PA (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — Tickets are on sale now for the 3rd Annual Women who Rock™ Benefit Concert Presented by UPMC Health Plan and UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital. This all ages show will take place on Thursday, May 30th, 2019 at Stage AE Pittsburgh, during Women’s Health Month. An event experience like no other, Women who Rock features an all-female fronted music lineup featuring this year’s headliner, the legendary Sheila E., and Pittsburgh’s top female musicians including the “God Daughter of Soul” Lyndsey Smith , DJ Jess, the award-winning women’s a cappella Sounds of Pittsburgh Chorus, and a performance from this year’s Rising Star Contest winner Melina Bowser. Rock radio DJ Michele Michales of 102.5 WDVE will emcee this powerful night.
Proceeds benefit Magee-Womens Research Institute (MWRI), the nation’s largest research institute dedicated solely to women’s health. MWRI is making discoveries and advancing knowledge in many areas affecting women including: reproductive biology, breast cancer genomics and personalized therapies, HIV immunization and prevention, fertility preservation, and is a recognized leader in clinical pelvic floor research.
Concert attendees can experience a free interactive Beauty Bar at Women who Rock, including beauty perks and samples from Macy’s, Drybar, The Skin Center, CYCLEBAR Robinson, Pure Barre, Totally Fit Mama, Waxing The City Pittsburgh, Dani’s Hair Loft, NailChíc, StudioBooth, and TaTa-Toos. The Women who Rock silent auction features exclusive experiences and items including a special VIP tour of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, a meet & greet with Heart on their upcoming Love Alive Pittsburgh tour date, and a custom piece of artwork created by Luca Paganico that will be created live during the concert.
Kelly Frey from WTAE will return as last year’s “Women who Rock Award” recipient to present the 2019 award to Dr. Sharon Hillier, Professor and Vice Chair of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and Magee-Womens Research Institute. Dr. Hillier is an internationally recognized microbiologist whose work has influenced an entire field of research based on the intersection of women’s health and HIV prevention.
