TEUTONIA MÄNNERCHOR INVITES THE PUBLIC TO ITS “MAIFEST”!
May 3th & 4th

PITTSBURGH, PA (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — The Northside “German Club”- Teutonia Männerchor, one of the oldest in the country, is holding an outdoor event for the general public on the grounds of its National Historic Registry registered clubhouse, built in 1888. Follow East Ohio Street till you see “The Big Tent”.

They will be offering the finest imported German beers along with authentic German food, dance performances and “Deutsches Musik” provided by several live German bands. Admission is a modest $5 per person and there will be tours of the historic Sängerhalle (Singer’s Concert hall) and the Ratskeller available and included in your admission ticket. A portion of the admission will also be donated to help keep our 131 year old historic building in good repair.

The “Maifest (May fest) is one of mankind’s oldest traditions! It is the celebration of nature’s bright reawakening after winter’s cold darkness. It is now a colorful, joyous part of history and culture in Germany! The custom of the maypole began in the tenth century, when villagers would erect a pole in the local square. They would decorate it with sausages, cakes, and multicolored ribbons! The villagers would dance around the maypole, as medieval citizens believed that it would bring good luck and wealth!” Teutonia Männerchor is committed to preserving the German cultural traditions and sharing them with the public.

This year’s Maifest will be held Friday, May 3th (5:00pm – 11:00pm) and Saturday, May 4th (11:00am – 11:00pm). The Teutonia Männerchor is located at 857 Phineas Street, Pittsburgh (on the North Shore) and the fest grounds are adjacent. Limited parking is available as well as on-street parking.
