PITTSBURGH, PA (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — “My campaign calls for working people to break from the two party system of big business. We need a fighting union movement to organize and strengthen unions and use union power to defend all working people. Our party presents a program to confront the economic, social and moral crisis caused by capitalism. Millions of working people in cities, small towns, and on farms, face unemployment, rising rents, home and farm foreclosures and increasingly unsafe working conditions,” said Jarrett.
Kennedy and Jarrett are the only presidential candidates who are workers, and who say workers need a union movement in every workplace. Their party calls for a massive jobs program to put millions to work at union-scale wages. Kennedy and Jarrett call for organizing a labor party to break with the Democrats and Republicans — both capitalist parties of the rich. A labor party could organize workers to defend our interests and fight for workers control of production.
Malcolm Jarrett, the Socialist Workers Party candidate for Vice President will be touring Western Pennsylvania from October 6-10, presenting a working class alternative to the Democrats and Republicans. Jarrett is a longtime resident of Pittsburgh. He is available for in-person or phone interviews.
