THE COMMUNITY LIVER ALLIANCE NAMES ITS 2021 RESEARCH GRANT AWARDEE
PITTSBURGH, PA (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — The Community Liver Alliance is excited to announce that Dr. Hossam Abdelsamed with the Starzl Transplant Institute is the recipient of the 2021 Research Grant Award for his submission of “Epigenetic Programming in Liver Transplant Patients: A Novel tool to discover non-invasive biomarkers and understand liver tolerance mechanisms”.
Hossam A. Abdelsamed, Ph.D is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation Institute.
Over the last 4 years, the Community Liver Alliance has invested $100,000 in research grants to support local scientists and their projects. This is a one-year award of $25,000.
FUNDING PERIOD: January 1, 2021- December 31, 2021. This award is intended for basic, clinical, or outcomes research related to liver disease. Students, residents, fellows, nurses, physician extenders, and faculty are eligible. Community Liver Alliance Board and Scientific review committee members and current awardees are NOT eligible.

The TV commercial that the CLA’s CEO is in is very vague. Your group seems aligned with The Partnership to Fight Chronic Diseases against Medicare’s proposal to negotiate drug prices. This vague commercial did not inform me of why your Alliance is opposed, what harm will the negotiations cause and why? May I suggest better explaining your message so I can decide to support it or is this message intended to be subliminal?
