AUTISM CONNECTING CONFERENCE FOR MOMS

OAKDALE, PA, February 1, 2024 (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — Local non-profit, the Autism Caring Center, has announced open registration for the Autism Connecting Conference for Moms Retreat and Conference for 2024. The retreat, held at the Sheraton Station Square in Pittsburgh PA, will kick off Friday, March 8th at 6:00pm. The conference will begin at 8:00 am on Saturday, March 9th.

The Autism Connecting Conference for Moms  formerly the “Mother’s Day Brunch,” began as a one-day event to provide mothers of children with autism and related disabilities the access to resources, as well as opportunities to connect and relax. Due to annual high response to the event, it will now enter it’s first year as a two-day retreat.

The Autism Caring Center was founded in 2017 to fill gaps in the special needs community. The non-profit now serves Pittsburgh and surrounding areas by providing resources, advocacy, training, and support for families. Since officially opening the doors to its facility in 2021, the ACC has offered social opportunities for families, educational workshops, support groups and training to local organizations and schools.

Kelly Cain, executive director of the ACC says, “The Autism Caring Center is designed to serve the community, fulfil the needs of not just individuals but the families that care for them. It is a hub to connect with others, access resources and feel less alone.”

At the Autism Connecting Conference for moms, attendees will have opportunities to connect with others and take part in informational workshops focused on self-care and educational resources.
The Keynote speaker will be Carrie Cariello, is the author of What Color Is Monday, How Autism Changed One Family for the Better, and Someone I’m With Has Autism. She lives in Southern New Hampshire with her husband, Joe, and their five children.

Carrie is a contributor to the Huffington Post, TODAY Parents, the TODAY Show, Parents.com. She has been interviewed by NBC Nightly News, and also has a TEDx talk.

She speaks regularly about autism, marriage, and motherhood, and writes a weekly blog at www.carriecariello.com. One of her essays, “I Know What Causes Autism,” was featured as one of the Huffington Post’s best of 2015, and her piece, “I Know Why He Has Autism,” was named one of the top blog posts of 2017 by the TODAY Show.

“Mothers of children with autism and related disabilities often struggle making meaningful connections,” says Cain. “A day filled with therapy, advocating and caring for their children is not something every parent can relate to. The Mother’s Day Retreat and Conference will offer the chance for moms to connect with others who just get it.” The goal of the is to connect moms and end the isolation.
