RIVERLIFE UNVEILS MIDNIGHT METAMORPHOSIS
FOR THE 17TH ANNUAL PARTY AT THE PIER

PITTSBURGH, PA, June 11, 2026 (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — Riverlife’s signature summer celebration returns on Friday, August 28, inviting guests to experience Pittsburgh’s riverfronts through a captivating new lens. The 17th Annual Party at the Pier, presented by Peoples, will transform the Rooftop Terrace of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center into a mesmerizing world of transformation, mystery, and wonder. The 2026 theme: Midnight Metamorphosis.

Inspired by the beauty of change that unfolds after dark, Midnight Metamorphosis invites guests into an immersive evening where Pittsburgh’s iconic rivers serve as the backdrop for a celebration unlike any other. As day turns to night, the riverfront will come alive with unexpected moments, dramatic visuals, interactive experiences, and a vibrant atmosphere designed to spark imagination and connection.
“Party at the Pier is a reflection of Riverlife’s mission to create, activate, and celebrate Pittsburgh’s riverfronts,” said Matthew Galluzzo, President and CEO of Riverlife. “This event has become a must-attend attraction of the summer, and we’re thrilled to bring it back year after year. This night shows what’s possible when we all come together to transform our riverfronts.”

Party at the Pier is hosted by event chairs Kenya T. Boswell, Diana Bucco, and Anne V. Lewis. The event’s Host Committee is led by Dr. Elie Aoun and Justin Matase.

The Vision: Transform After Dark
Midnight Metamorphosis will come alive through immersive design, dramatic lighting, fog, and captivating installations inspired by the beauty of transformation. The Rooftop Terrace will be reimagined in a palette of deep indigos, midnight blues, rich violets, and black, creating a mysterious after-dark atmosphere where guests are invited to step into a world of wonder.

Drawing inspiration from the metamorphosis of a butterfly, the evening will unfold through unexpected moments of discovery — from illuminated wings and immersive garden-inspired environments to dynamic performances, interactive activations, and evolving visual experiences that reveal themselves throughout the night. Guests are encouraged to embrace the theme through bold fashion, dark textures, shimmering accents, and looks inspired by transformation, movement, and the magic of midnight.

The Rooftop Terrace provides the perfect backdrop for the evening’s festivities, with sweeping views of Pittsburgh’s three rivers serving as a reminder of Riverlife’s mission to transform and connect the city’s waterfronts through extraordinary experiences.
Riverlife has once again partnered with Alexis Allen to bring the theme to life through imaginative storytelling, striking visuals, and experiential design.

“Midnight Metamorphosis is about the beauty of becoming,” said Alexis Allen, event producer and founder of Alexis Allen Consulting. “Guests will journey through an immersive world inspired by transformation, where butterflies emerge from the darkness, fog drifts across the waterfront, and every space reveals a new surprise. From captivating performances and interactive experiences to unexpected moments of wonder, we’re creating an evening that feels both enchanting and unforgettable. Guests won’t just attend the event — they’ll become part of the transformation.”

Beyond the Celebration
Party at the Pier supports Riverlife’s mission to create, activate, and celebrate Pittsburgh’s riverfronts, connecting people through exceptional places and experiences. Proceeds from the event help fund accessible trails, parks, public art, riverfront amenities, and community-centered projects that ensure Pittsburgh’s waterfronts remain vibrant destinations for all.

“The energy and support that we see at Party at the Pier translates directly into real impact along our rivers,” Galluzzo added. “This celebration funds transformative capital projects, free public programming, and critical care and maintenance – turning our shared vision of world-class waterfronts into reality.”

Riverlife’s Party at the Pier: Midnight Metamorphosis is presented by Peoples, with additional support from Highmark, PNC Bank, David L. Lawrence Convention Center, and First National Bank.
