PITTSBURGH, PA (PittsburghNewsWire.com) — What do you do when a customer chooses you to design a custom engagement ring for a perfectly timed marriage proposal and is relying on you for the precisely timed delivery of that one-of-a-kind engagement ring, but the FedEx plane carrying the ring unexpectedly gets stuck at an airport? She and her husband, Paulino, recently opened Paixão Jewellers 10 minutes from Pittsburgh in Kennedy, PA. What they didn’t realize was how quickly their business nerves would be tested.
They were barely open for a week when a custom engagement ring was designed for a customer, crafted, and was in transit to the new Paixão Jewellers store but didn’t arrived at the expected 3:00 p.m. delivery time. “We knew there was a problem . . . and it was somewhere between Burbank, CA, and Pittsburgh,” said Paixão.
News came that the plane carrying the ring was stuck in Memphis for a repair, and that delay could ruin the customer’s engagement plan the next evening. “We still had to set the diamond before delivering it to the customer . . . and the clock was ticking,” said Eileen.
They sprang into action and, along with FedEx, started making phone calls, which led to making arrangements to personally drive to the airport to pick up the ring and get it to their diamond setter, who was on standby to set the diamond to complete the ring pronto!
At 8:00 p.m., Eileen and Paulino were having dinner with friends at a restaurant when they got the call from FedEx saying they managed to get the ring on a plane and they could pick it up at 10:00 p.m. at the airport. They left the restaurant and their friends and headed to the airport. They picked up the ring and drove it to the diamond setter, who immediately began his work to set the stone to complete the ring. They got home at midnight, and at 9:00 a.m. the following morning, the ring was ready to present to the customer, who was delighted.
The proposal happened as planned. She said yes, the couple is now engaged, and she is proudly wearing the beautiful Paixão custom ring! And Paixão Jewellers again finds another reason to love FedEx.
